JERUSALEM — Hundreds of Ethiopian migrants who came to Israel in recent years demonstrated outside the Israeli Prime Minister’s office in Jerusalem on January 10.
They were demanding that the Israeli government bring the remnants of the Falash Mura, who are currently in camps in Addis Ababa and Gonda, to Israel.
There are thought to be about 8500 people in Ethiopia who claim the right to come to Israel.
The demonstrators held colourful signs reading “Bring back my mother and father”, “No more discrimination” and “Stopping the aliyah is a crime against Zionism”.
The demonstration is against what the Ethiopians claim is a discriminating policy of the Israeli government regarding the immigration of Ethiopian Jews into Israel.
